2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society, the country's largest humanitarian organization. Its main tasks are to assist public authorities in their humanitarian activities, protect human life, prevent and alleviate human suffering during armed conflicts, natural disasters, catastrophes and accidents, and provide assistance to the Armed Forces Medical Service and health authorities.
Having undertaken from the first days of its existence – since 1918 – a noble mission of caring for human health and well-being, the Society continues to promote the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, as well as values beyond time – mercy, humanity, compassion.
For almost a century of its activity, the Red Cross Society of Ukraine has come a long way, full of millions of noble deeds aimed at helping the most vulnerable citizens and victims of emergencies and armed conflicts.
We are proud that the separate structural subdivision of the Agrotechnical College of Uman NUS is directly related to the work of this outstanding organization at the level of our city. For many years, our Primary Red Cross organization has been established and is constantly operating in our school. The members of this organization in the college are the administration of the college, curators and students of study groups, employees of the educational institution. Our volunteers and staff are always there where people need help, support and advice. All this is done exclusively with the help of those who support the humane activities of the Red Cross. Our college is also always ready to help those who are in trouble.
The main directions of work of the Primary organization of the Red Cross Society of VSP Agrotechnical College of Uman NUS
The primary organization of the Agricultural College is working in close cooperation with the Council of Veterans of the College and the city. Our volunteers pay a lot of attention to war and labor veterans, the elderly, which is manifested in the provision of affordable financial assistance, household assistance, assistance in resolving difficult life situations. Our veterans are not left unattended on birthdays, holidays and anniversaries. The college periodically holds meetings and roundtables in a warm and relaxed atmosphere with the participation of the college administration, student council, staff and esteemed veterans, who are also always invited guests of honor to themed educational classes in student groups, concerts and open events.
The primary organization of the Society of Agrotechnical College provides constant control and care for specialized children's institutions: shelters, the regional center for social and psychological rehabilitation of children, Ladyzhyn and Baban boarding schools. Delegations of our volunteers from among students and teachers annually organize and hold charity events, which allows to transfer to the young pupils of the above institutions various hotels: clothes, shoes, stationery, fruit, sweets, books and toys.
The volunteer movement of the college and individual students of our educational institution, who also need special attention and help in difficult life situations, is not ignored. At the initiative of teachers and students, charity concerts and seasonal fairs are organized annually; Proceeds are donated to our students from large and low-income families, and to orphans who need our help the most.
An important point in the work of the Primary Organization of the Society of Agricultural College of Agrotechnical College is the situation that has developed in the East of our country due to well-known circumstances. We must all remember those who stand guard over our peace and tranquility at the forefront. Every warrior must feel our love and care. In order for the fighters to feel them in the anti-terrorist operation zone, our college periodically holds charity events, during which students and group curators, college staff collect food, clothing, detergents and household items, various delicacies. All these gifts are given by delegations of our students to the Uman volunteer organization "Together", which is preparing to send such gifts to the anti-terrorist operation zone in eastern Ukraine.
An equally important aspect of the primary organization of the College Red Cross Society is the conduct of preventive and explanatory work among students on a general college scale on the history of the creation and operation of the Red Cross and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. There are regular open educational hours dedicated to the International TB Day, educational activities on AIDS, the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, meetings with employees of the Friendly Clinic for Youth, the Center for Social Services for Families. , children and youth, the center – are especially useful for students, as they get answers to the questions that concern modern youth. It is traditional in our school to hold health days, sports competitions and sports and entertainment games "Cossack Entertainment". Most of the educational activities in the college are held in order to educate young people in the good, to involve them in charitable activities and in the ranks of the Red Cross. Every year, college teachers help the city district organization of the Red Cross in conducting information and prevention campaigns on tuberculosis and AIDS prevention, periodically inform students about the activities of the Red Cross, and students are involved in the distribution of Red Cross membership stamps. We hope that this educational work will help improve the prevention of infectious diseases, promote a healthy lifestyle, education of youth in the good and compassion for others' pain.
The college also actively promotes the principles of tolerance. Annual educational hours dedicated to the International Day for Tolerance, the Day for Combating Poverty, and the Day for the Protection of Children are held annually at the school.
An informative stand about the work of the Primary Organization of the Society of the College of the College has been created and is constantly operating in our educational institution.
The primary organization of the Red Cross Society of VSP Agrotechnical College of Uman National University of Horticulture maintains constant close contacts with the City District Organization of the HH Society of our city, which has been headed for many years by VA Black.
