Remember. We study. We win.
On October 29, our school hosted a roundtable discussion on "Fighting Nazism: The Ukrainian Dimension" in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Nazi expulsion from Ukraine. Its participants were historians, scientists, local historians, members of the ATO, students of our college, who were also affected by the war, as parents and relatives of many of them fought or are fighting to protect our country from Russian aggressors, students who were forced to leave their homes with their families , fleeing the war, teachers and other guests who are not indifferent to the fate of Ukraine and the topic chosen for discussion.
The participants of the round table were looking for answers to acute and painful questions: "Do we know everything about the Second World War? Is the participation of Ukrainians and their contribution to the defeat of Nazism true? How many more unknown pages and distorted interpretations? And how to get rid of it? Why aren't the proper conclusions drawn from the lessons of World War II? Why is blood being shed in Ukraine even now? Who is encroaching on our freedom again? Who started the war against us again? And what experience should we learn from this war? ”
We learned a lot of new and interesting things from the invited guests. In particular, Nadiya Serhiivna Tulchynska , a local historian and senior researcher at the Uman Museum of Local Lore, who highlighted the role of the Ukrainian nationalist underground in Uman during World War II and its contribution to the fight against Nazism. Before that, the names of the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine, unknown to us, have acquired real features of people for whom Ukraine was above all! Olga Volodymyrivna Skus – Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor of History of Ukraine, Uman State Pedagogical University, who spoke about the Hero of Ukraine, General, who put an end to World War II Kuzma Nikolaevich Derevyanko and made the audience look at this legendary military leader with completely different eyes. – to rethink his way of life and role in Ukrainian and world history. Serhiy Volodymyrovych Timanovsky, a member of the Anti-Terrorist Operation , a volunteer of the Bulat Battalion of the National Guard of Ukraine, met with a wave of touching emotions.
So, one of the important conclusions of this meeting is that we need to teach our own history primarily for patriotic, state reasons. We must remember all the fighters for the freedom of Ukraine and be able to resist the aggressor on all fronts. Be steadfast in your faith in victory and in an independent Ukraine!
