FROM THE REVOLUTION OF DIGNITY – TO A DIGNIFIED LIFE

Open educational hour for the Day of Dignity and Freedom on the topic:

"FROM THE REVOLUTION OF DIGNITY – TO A DIGNIFIED LIFE"

On November 21, Ukrainians celebrate one of the new significant holidays in the recent history of Ukraine – the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

The holiday is celebrated in accordance with Presidential Decree № 872 of November 13, 2014 “in order to establish the ideals of freedom and democracy in Ukraine, preserve and convey to present and future generations objective information about the fateful events in Ukraine at the beginning of the XXI century. patriotism and courage of citizens who stood up for democratic values, human and civil rights and freedoms, national interests of our state and its European choice… ".

The holiday is dedicated to the beginning of two revolutions: the Orange Revolution (2004) and the Revolution of Dignity (2013) and is a kind of successor to the Freedom Day, which was celebrated in honor of the Orange Revolution from 2005 to 2011 on November 22.

Thomas Carlyle's phrase that the revolution is conceived by romantics, carried out by fanatics, and its fruits by villains is actually too spectacular to be precise.

As you know, on November 21, 2013, the first protests of the Ukrainian public began in response to the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine to suspend the process of preparation for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union.

Peaceful student gatherings turned into mass rallies with burning tires, Molotov cocktails and cobblestones that became weapons in the hands of protesters. In contrast to the events of the Orange Revolution, while defending dignity and freedom, 106 Ukrainians were killed and more than 2,000 were injured during the protests.

The Revolution of Dignity has left a deep, defining and unforgettable mark on history. It was a winter that changed the Ukrainian people forever. Our mentality has changed, we have become more determined. These events were significant in the context of the entire millennial heritage of our nation, because they marked the beginning of the formation of a new political identity of Ukrainians. However, this process is not over, we are just at the beginning of our difficult, long and thorny path.

After the Revolution of Dignity and the fall of the then government in March 2014, Russia annexed Crimea, and in April the war in Donbass began, which continues to this day.

Traditionally, on the Day of Dignity and Freedom, solemn events and concerts are held in the cities of Ukraine, and flowers and candles are brought to the monuments to the fallen participants of the Revolution of Dignity. Prayers in memory of the Heavenly Hundred are held in Ukrainian churches.

In order to expand students' knowledge of the Revolution of Dignity, the development of young people's sense of national identity and civic activism, the formation of understanding of the unity and integrity of Ukraine, personal responsibility for the state, fostering values of democratic freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. our school teachers Bulakh II and Szymanska OV An educational event dedicated to the Day of Dignity and Freedom was held on the topic: "From the Revolution of Dignity – to a decent life" for students of the Department of Economics. Participants observed a moment of silence for those killed on the Maidan and in eastern Ukraine, laid flowers at the memorial plaque.

We call on all those who care about the fate of Ukraine to remember the price our State, our Patriots and Defenders have paid and still pay today for the right to pass on to our descendants an independent, free, strong, worthy of respect and recognition Ukraine!
